Sorry its been so long since last my blog, life as ever just seems non stop, busy, busy, busy. Last weekend Steve had a stall at the local Rugeley Charter Fair and to go along with the fair's medeival theme took along some of his medeival style items. We were lucky with the weather as it stayed dry but my god it was sooooooo windy that some stalls had to pack up and leave but Steve stayed and was pleased to meet so many locals, and so had a good day. The sun did shine but sun + wind = Sunburn so poor Steve came home with a red face that day.
This weekend on Sunday Black Fish have a stand at the Kniver Antiques Fair held at Kinver Leisure Centre, Enville Road, Kinver, West Midlands, DY7 6AA. Kniver is a lovely picturesque village, ideal for a sunday stroll around an antiques fair. For more details see our events page.
Then at the end of June Steve will be camping out (literally! in a tent) at Kedleston Hall in Derby to do a 3 day fair. Its a gorgeous setting and run by the same people, Jaguar Fairs that ran Shugbourough's antiques in the park that we did in March. So he is looking forward to that. So I am lol peace for a few days haha.
So that's what has been happening so far but more exciting is that we have a new special collection to sell. Collectors will tell you that once you start just like tattoos its addictive. From kitchen wares and collectable toys to films and sports, everything and anything is collectable, not more so than memorabilia. Sport memorabilia is extremeley popular, especially football. Football is the most popular sport in the world, and pre 1950's football memorabilia is even more popular.
We have a Stoke City Football Medal Collection for sale that belonged to the late Charlie Wilson. A footballer who started his career a by being signed at Tottenham Hotspur, before transferring to Huddersfield Town where he was part of the Herbert Chapman's team (three successive Division 1 Championships) before being transferred to Stoke City where eventually due to injuries he moved into non league football playing for Stafford Rangers. Later he became a landlord at a Stafford pub, the Noah's Ark before his death at the age of 76 years in 1971.
Charlie's football performance record reads as follows;
Record - Tottenham 27 goals in 55 league appearances, Huddersfield 57 goals in 99 games and Stoke 110 goals in 156 appearances.
