So I know its been like forever since a blog was on. Its been a busy time on a work and personal level. The biggest change being the introduction of our Black FIsh Collectables Monthly Auctions in connection with Burns Antiques.
Once a month, usually the first Wednesday of the month but occasionally this is not the case so always check the auction page for most up to date details. Its at 7pm at The Ashmole Club in Hammerwich, Burntwood, Staffs. There are NO yes thats right NO buyer fees and very low seller fees. Thats a win win for everyone!
Whether you are a buyer or a seller and want more info then please contact us as per details on our contact us page.
This is a bit of a dream come true for Steve. He has always dreamed of being an auctionner and having a big auction house. Ok so not a massive auction house as yet but still monthly acutions are now up and running and yes Steve is our resident AUCTIONEER. He gets to bang that hammer down and declare items sold. On a loud Mike, up on a stand, he works the room.
So looking back in history where did auctions come from? Wikiapedia states that the earliest auctions or rather evidence of the earliest auctions date back to 500BC. With programmes such as cash in the attic and bargain hunt, antique and collectable auctions have become more well known and familiar to many. There are many different types of auctions though from farm animals to fishmongers to the high end works of arts and jewellry.
I never realised there were so many types of auctions. We are according to wiki an english open ascending acution but others out there include the dutch auction, the sealed first price auction, the vickrey auction, multi unit auctions, auction by the candle, buyout auctions, mystery auctions and many more.
So if you are looking for some amazing deals come along to one of our monthly auctions, its a fun friendly night with plenty of laughs as well as some serious bidding. See you soon!
