Hi folks.
I can not believe how long it has been since my last blog. But then we have had the school holidays and in Staffordshire us poor mom's had to endure 7 weeks!! Yes thats right, 7 not 6 weeks of the kids of school. So my assistance within with any aspect of the business gets put on the back burner.
So today Steve is at the Stafford County Showground doing the Number One Events 2 day Antiques and Collectables Fair. The one where Bargain Hunt were filming earlier in the year. Not sure if they are there this time.
We have some very weird items in the shop at present. Theres the Rugeley Mermaid, a Vampire in a coffin, blood slime, deer feotus in a jar (am not keen on this one at all but whatever takes your fancy i guess), an insect made out of cutlery and lots more but my favourite is the vintage art deco cinema seats. Not so weird as interesting really the seats I would say.
It is a 3 seater art deco vintage cinema bench. I have tested all 3 out and they are extrememly comfortable. The material is a gorgeous gold/tan colour, a real autumnal feel to them, with pattern on them. On the back of the actual chairs are the original ashtrays as of course smoking was permitted in cinema's until smoking ban laws were introduced. The sides have a very typical art deco design on them.
These days they are popular for being re-covered in modern fabrics and are often used in modern larger houses. I love the history they give. Imagining how many others have sat on them before, what films did the occupants of them watch? Were they on a date? or just friends? Its lovely to wonder at the bench's journey of life.
Will try not to leave it so long again next time. Yes I hear you - I always say I wont leave it so long, i know, i know. I promise! It wont be so long.
Till then
